Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the US-Israeli aggression against Iran during a recent phone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot.
According to a statement published Tuesday on China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Wang told Barrot that the international community must unite against any nation violating international law by imposing its will through military force.
“Major powers should not attack other countries at will by relying on military superiority, and the world must not be allowed to regress to the law of the jungle,” Wang stated.
He emphasized that the Iranian nuclear issue must ultimately return to the track of political and diplomatic settlement.
“The international community must refrain from using double standards,” the Chinese minister stated.
Wang expressed hope that France would maintain an objective and fair position and collaborate with China to steer the situation toward de-escalation while jointly safeguarding fundamental norms of international relations.
Barrot acknowledged that the military strikes launched by the US and Israel on Iran occurred without consultation with, or authorization from, the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Russia condemns the “aggressive attacks” launched by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran and called an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The US and Israel initiated a joint military aggression against Iran on Saturday, assassinating the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and several senior Iranian military officials.
Since then, the Iranian armed forces have swiftly and decisively retaliated, launching barrages of missiles and drones against Israeli-occupied territories and US bases in the region.
The Iranian officials have stated that targeting the US military bases in the region constitutes a “legitimate self-defense.”
Referring to Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, they said that the Islamic Republic has the legal right to defend itself against “acts of aggression” by the US or the Israeli regime.
