"The US empire is at war with humanity," an American writer and political commentator says, adding that it wants “to keep things exactly as they are, which is the last five hundred years of wealth flowing up to them.”
Daniel Patrick Welch made the remarks in an interview with Iran’s Arabic-Language channel Al-Alam this week while commenting on Washington's quest for control over Africa and its resources and the challenge China presents to it.
“The fact is that when China announced its Belt and Road Initiative, it included circling the entire world, because China, in the last, say, twenty years, has made unbelievable, incredible, leaps and bounds results in technology, in infrastructure, in construction—all sorts of things that are needed in Africa very specifically because it was underdeveloped for so long by its colonial masters,” said Welch.
“For the last two, three, four hundred years. And so it makes perfect sense that one of the places—and it is one of the places—that China would offer its assistance to, would be Africa. It’s completely logical,” he added.
Question: Why is China taking the initiative, and preceding the United States on the African continent?
Answer: Yes. It is amazing that it is happening, and that all of these things are happening together is just incredible: the meeting this week between Comrade Xi and President Putin in Moscow; the recently brokered deal between Iran and Saudi Arabia. It just takes the place of the US. Why China? Why not?
The US has not only failed to bring about the kind of development that it is promising, but it has used it to its own advantage. There is nothing in the US goals that comes even close to what China says it wants to do: Comrade Xi said flat out today that “the ultimate goal of modernization is to realize people’s free and comprehensive development.” That’s what it is. And he was speaking to world political parties. He says that they should focus on people’s aspirations for a better life, and further progress of civilization—to strive to achieve material abundance, political integrity, cultural-ethical enrichment, social stability and pleasant living conditions.” Just as is. That is an absolutely upfront announcement of why China is doing what it’s doing. And the fact that it meets this “rivalry”—or rather, opposition—is because the US and its European vassal states has its teeth and claws in Africa going back to Portugal in the 1400’s. I mean, there is an endless stream of history of colonial atrocities. Whether you’re talking about NATO helping to kill Patrice Lumumba, or the ten million people that were murdered in the Belgian Congo by King Leopold’s government… you run out of time when you count those.
Question: So we can say that the United States has not done enough with regard to the African continent. Do you think so or not?
Answer: No. Like I said, not only has it not done enough. It has done the ‘opposite’ of what is necessary for the African masses, as it has all over the world. The US empire is at war with ‘humanity’. They want to keep things exactly as they are, which is the last five hundred years of wealth flowing up to them. The Africans know it, China knows it, Russia knows it, Asia knows it, South America knows it—everybody knows it.
Eighty-five percent of the world’s population lives outside the press bubble that Washington uses to get its own message across. And it’s just too late. It is absolutely too late for them to insert their narrative and get heard on the opposite of the truth. After so long.
Question: Do you agree with the report that comes from Black Agenda Report that the US is shooting itself in the foot in Africa?
Answer: Yes. I agree with it completely. I think it’s dead on. And the US continues. It’s like it has a jackhammer, and keeps hammering all over its own feet. I don’t understand the rhetoric and the narrative that they are trying to portray. It always comes with a religious component, like sending evangelicals to Uganda; like dragging people along with their own foreign policy agenda. Look at this: when there are these huge protests in Mali and Burkina Faso and people are flying Russian flags—just like they did some in Haiti. Do you really think that you have the right agenda to try to put Russia on trial? And that people are going to follow you economically? It is stupid. It really actually is stupid. It just doesn’t make any sense. And the same thing goes with the ICC. They manipulate the ICC, which they don’t even sign on to, which has only accused."
“African” leaders. “Only” African leaders, by these Europeans. Up until now, when they go after Putin. It’s like they have the script. And they’re reading from that same script over and over again, despite the chaos and the death that it has thrust on Africa. And they think somehow that the results are going to be different......more below

Source: The Investigative Committee
A Russian general has been killed in a car bomb blast in Moscow, the Investigative Committee has reported.
Officials identified the victim as Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, head of operational training at the General Staff. According to the statement, an explosive device had been planted beneath the vehicle he was traveling in, and detonated on Monday morning in the southern part of the Russian capital.
The blast also damaged several other vehicles and seriously injured Sarvarov’s driver, media reports stated.
Russian officials said one line of investigation is an assassination carried out by Ukrainian intelligence services, noting that Kiev has previously used explosive devices in targeted killings of officials and public figures.
Last December, a bomb hidden in an e-scooter killed Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense ...
